Is being a "6" polite or plain ol mediocre?

"I'm a 6, ok!?!"

That was me, stomping my foot in front of my teacher Baron Baptiste and 120 fellow students. My defiant response came under pressure during my Baptiste Level 2 Teacher Training. Baron had been pressing that if we want to live life at a 10, we have to show up as a 20.

In a direct experience with Baron, he asked "Erin. In this moment, on a scale of 1 - 10, how are you showing up?"

I thought 6 was a damn good response. Middle of the road, not too showy. Modest. Polite. Just ok seems good enough.

Does this sound familiar?

And then he said just one more thing..."Well Erin. The train is leaving, the question is, are you getting on or are you going to stand there in your 6 and let it go by?"

He hit a cord. Don't leave me alone! In the world of leverage, this was it. I needed to know that the world was going to pass me by if I held on to my mediocre 6.

That cold sweat in the heat of the moment was total embodied learning. The kind of learning that can't be "unlearned". My life was never the same after that. I began to see the ways I was holding back. It was uncomfortable seeing how I chose the easy and safe route even though it wasn't always serving me.

Through the Baptiste Methodology I learned potent tools to push through the lull of mediocrity. The learning didn't happen all at once, it was a practice that I took on wholeheartedly - and continue to this day.

I'm so excited about how Baptiste Yoga worked for me that I'm committed to sharing this potent methodology with you!

This September I will be leading a 200 hour teacher training in Vancouver.
